Pu-erh Tea's Health Benefits

Updated: Sep 26

So we’ve all had those days when we look forward to that hot cup of coffee to get us going in the morning. You feel that buzz as your cortisol spikes, producing that temporary energy high, but eventually we get that crash. Drinking coffee triggers your body to go into a stress response which, over time, can burnout your adrenals. Coffee also causes increased urination and sweating, causing the body to lose excess fluids which can lead to night sweats, hot flashes and urinary dysfunction.

In contrast, tea is more cooling and astringent in nature, which can help to consolidate your energy rather than scatter it. The caffeine in tea will still give you that increased energy, but on a smoother, more even flow without the highs and lows. Tea also helps increase alertness without the racy feeling or late afternoon crash.

Why is Pu-erh my favorite tea?

Pu-erh tea has has been popular in China for thousands of years for its superior health benefits. Pu-erh tea goes through a special fermentation process that makes it very beneficial to the digestive system. This tea has a mellow, earthy taste and is very popular for stimulating weight loss and producing anti-anxiety effects due to its high GABA content.
